The Washington Redskins get the second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, so they have a breadth of talented rookies they can pick from. Chase Young is one of the favorites to be taken second overall in the NFL Draft, and Rex Ryan highly endorses the Ohio State standout by comparing him to Khalil Mack.Ryan, who coached the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills, highly rate the defensive abilities Young showcased as a member of the Buckeyes. He thinks he has the physical tools and skillset to thrive in the NFL as an elite pass rusher that quarterbacks and offensive coordinators will fear.Per Zachary Neel of Redskins Wire, the ESPN analyst rained high praises upon the incoming rookie.“I think a comparison is Khalil Mack,” Ryan said on ESPN’s Get Up. “Not only does this guy sack the quarterback, but he forces fumbles; he’s a turnover machine waiting to happen. I think he’s going to have a higher upside than Mack. This kind of guy comes around once every 10 years.”“Realistically, this is a can’t miss guy, and he’s going to fit right into Washington’s plan and probably be a Pro-Bowler as a rookie.”This is extremely high praise for someone who hasn’t played a minute of NFL football. However, a quick look at his college stats will make people understand why Ryan is fawning over Young. He’s regarded as a sack specialist during his time in Ohio State. He had 98 total tackles to his name, but his most impressive stat is easily his 30.5 sacks. He has a knack of finding gaps in the offensive line and rush the quarterback. He has the moves that allow him to break past O-linemen and hit the QB hard. There’s little to no doubt that Young will find his space in the NFL, and it will be a blunder for a team that badly needs help on defense like the Redskins to pass up on him in the NFL Draft.
