Jürgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool skipper Jordan Henderson will be available for selection as the European champions attempt to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Atletico Madrid.
Klopp on Jordan Henderson: “Hendo is ready. What we do with that I don’t know. Well, I know but I won’t say.”
— David Lynch (@LynchStandard) March 10, 2020
Klopp was coy over whether Henderson would start the 2nd leg tie but his availability is undoubtedly a massive boost for the club. The influential midfielder has missed The Anfield club’s last four matches across all competitions, including a 3-0 loss at Watford in the Premier League and a 2-0 loss at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea in the FA Cup.
Wednesday’s round of 16 second leg tie at Anfield sees the Reds hoping to repeat last season’s stunning fightback against another LaLiga outfit, Barcelona. In 2019 they fought back from 3-0 down to win 4-3 on aggregate so, on paper, this won’t be as difficult a task.
