A day after the sixth edition of African Nation Championship was postponed, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) has announced that all football activities in the country have been suspended indefinitely.
The decision comes as Fecafoot conforms to the strict measures outlined by the country’s health authorities as they battle to combat the rising cases of Covid-19. Among the measures announced include a ban on public gatherings as well as strict restrictions to movements in the country.
Cameroon has reported at least 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus infections.
Fecafoot announced that all football activities will be suspended with immediate effect.
“The Bureau of the Executive Committee of the Cameroon Football Federation decides, from this day, the sine die suspension of all competitions organized under its aegis (friendly matches, professional championship, amateur championships, women’s championship, youth championship, Cameroon Cup, beach soccer and futsal) across the country, ” the federation said in a statement.
