Manchester City’s squad is worth £1.28billion – more than any other football side in the world – according to a new financial report. Pep Guardiola has bought 22 players and spent almost £540million at City since taking over in June 2016, which has yielded five major trophies including two Premier League titles. The Citizens are set to miss out on the English crown for the first time since 2017 this season as they trail Liverpool by 22 points.Guardiola’s men are, however, still in the chase for the Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup. They face Aston Villa in the final of the latter on March 1.There is an expectation on them to win at least one of those titles given the level of the squad, which has had a light shone on it in a new report produced by Soccerex. The annual financial report listed the world’s most financially powerful clubs and one of the columns taken into account was ‘players value’.JUST IN: Storm Dennis puts five Premier League games at risk as horror cyclone approaches UKTop 10 most valuable squads1.
