My lock this week is the Panthers, folks. I don’t know if they win the football game, but road ‘dogs are killing it this season so far and that Panthers defense has played great football while the 49ers offense has left much to be desired. Even if the 49ers are for real, and it’s certainly starting to look like they are, they definitely aren’t perfect and 5 1/2 is just too many points.

Thirteen is a big number, but the Bengals are the Bengals, except they continue to be without their best receiver, best blocker, best edge rusher and two of their top three corners, among other key injuries. And they’re not on the Rams’ level when 100 percent healthy. Throw in the trip across the pond and likelihood of Sean McVay’s experienced staff being better equipped than his mentor Zac Taylor and Co. to get a shorthanded club ready to go, and this will be ugly.
