KOLKATA: Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) beat Khidirpur FC 2-0 in their pre-season friendly at their club ground on Tuesday. Arthur Kouassi and Mohammed Amirul were on target for MSC.
MSC will next face Calcutta Customs SC on Wednesday. This is Mohammedan Sporting’s fourth pre-season match after beating George Telegraph SC (2-0) and Food Corporation of India (3-1) and playing out a 1-1 draw against Aryan FC.
The Subrata Bhattacharya-coached side will next take on Khidirpur Football Club in another pre-season tie on Tuesday followed by Calcutta Customs SC on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Bhattacharya’s aim will be to help the team improve on last season’s performance.
“I think the boys are really working hard. Each day we grow stronger and are more united as a team,” Bhattacharya said earlier.
This year’s Calcutta Football League is likely to be the most competitive as Southern Samity, Bhawanipore Club and Peerless Club have been able to put together a squad, strong enough to challenge for the title alongside East Bengal and Mohun Bagan.
Under technical director Raghu Nandy, MSC had finished fourth – behind Mohun Bagan, Peerless SC and East Bengal – in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) in 2018-19 season and failed to qualify for the final round of 2nd Division League.
