KOLKATA: Mohun Bagan officials are trying to organize their home matches of the I-League at their club ground, starting from this season itself. With that target in mind, infrastructural developmental and renovation work had commenced at the Mohun Bagan club premises at the beginning of this month.
The work includes the construction of two dressing rooms (for home team and away team), match officials’ room, broadcasting and telecast room, medical room, dope testing room, ball boys’ room and also a gymnasium.
However, it was learnt from sources that the infrastructural developmental and renovation work had got stalled late last week because of a complaint. But, owing to prompt action from all parties concerned, the work has resumed once again and is back on track.
“The work had got stopped for a few days. We immediately got in touch with the Army and had to make some alternations to the plans. Things are back on track now. We are thankful to the Army and the Police for their prompt response and cooperation in resolving the matter,” said Mohun Bagan’s finance secretary Debashis Dutta. “We have the floodlights installed at our club ground. But in order to organize the home matches of the I-League matches here, these infrastructural developments are needed. We also thank Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for the financial help in the infrastructural work.”
Meanwhile, before the infrastructural developmental and renovation work had started, the green and maroons officials had inaugurated a renovated and remodelled cafeteria last month in the club premises.
