Sensational reports out of Brazil suggest that Everton have agreed to purchase Flamengo attacking midfielder Reinier for €40m when the player turns 18 in January.
According to reliable journalists Bruno Formiga and Marcelo Bechler of Esporte Interativo, the Toffees have beaten the likes of PSG, Manchester City, Juventus, Manchester United, AC Milan, and Borussia Dortmund to his signature.
Reinier is under contract at Flamengo until December 2020 and, despite not making a single competitive appearance so far this season, has a €70m release clause.
However, if a big-money deal does not go through in the next six months, it’s fully expected that Flamengo will extend Reinier’s contract until 2024.
According to FIFA rules, South American players are prevented from moving to Europe until their 18th birthday unless their parents have moved to the same nation.
The Brazil U-17 captain is considered one of the best under-18 prospects in the world and recently scored three goals and added an assist in four games at the 2019 U-17 South American championships.
