Expect Coors Field security to be on high alert this weekend when the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cody Bellinger come to LoDo.
With “Codymania” taking the baseball world by storm in recent weeks, there’s a decent chance a female admirer or two might run out onto the field looking for a hug from the Dodgers’ sweet-swinging hunk.
Bellinger, the third-year player for the boys in blue, is a young pup at 23 years old and apparently drives the girls crazy in Dodger Town. Over the past week Bellinger has been on the receiving end of some on-field love he wasn’t looking for as two young female fans ran onto the field past security guards to give the Dodgers’ star a hug.
Bellinger was last victim of a hugger this past Sunday during at home game against the Rockies at Chavez Ravine. During his postgame presser with media he touched on the latest hugging bandit who was a 14-year-old girl.
“She came up and said I wanna hug you, gave me a hug, after she gave me a hug then the security guard tackled her,” Bellinger said. “She got tackled and I said, ‘You know you’re going to jail.’”
Let this be a lesson to any Cody lovers heading to Coors for this weekend’s four-game series: no matter how irresistible you might find Bellinger, leave him alone. Don’t run onto the playing surface at Coors Field as you will be tackled, arrested and will end up paying a huge fine.
So just say no, friends. Coors Field is not the place to embarrass yourself, unless you do it atop the Rooftop Party deck.
If you feel the need to give someone a hug over the weekend, go find Dinger. The Rox huge purple dinosaur will be happy to show ya some love… just make sure to take a selfie with him and tweet us @DPRockies.
