Pogba is understood to be unsettled at Old Trafford and has been heavily linked with a summer move to Real Madrid. It has been claimed United are willing to sell him to to the Spanish giants for £160million and that Pogba has already opened talks with them, however, Lawrenson believes they should try and get Bale in exchange instead.Bale has endured a torrid season at the Bernabeu and has been targeted by fans as a scapegoat for their below-par season.Lawrenson says Bale would be an upgrade on Pogba and claimed swapping the two would be a no-brainer given Pogba’s poor form in recent weeks.“In terms of Paul Pogba, I’m just so not convinced,” the former Liverpool defender told the Daily Star.“If you could swap him for Gareth Bale, swap him all day.“I think Bale is a big-game player and will get you loads of goals.“He’s also left-sided which is unusual. That might be the way forward.“I get the impression that all the players like Pogba.“You can like him or loathe him, but if one week you’re six out of 10 and the next you’re eight out of ten it drives the manager mad.”Pogba has scored just twice in his last 13 appearances for United in all competitions. However, Real are said to be keen on signing him in spite of his struggles as Real boss Zinedine Zidane looks to overhaul his squad. As for Bale, Zidane recently admitted that the out-of-favour forward should probably look to move given his recent lack of game time.“If they’re under contract, they can stay here, even if they know that they’re not going to get game time,” he said last week.“However, I think that all of them are looking to play. If I was asked the question, I’d want to go elsewhere and get more minutes.“With 22 or 23 players in the squad, the reality in football is that there’ll be players who’ll end up getting less game time. But if there’s no space for a given player, it’s better for them to go and play.”
